Speed gives you the power and flow required to pull off a manoeuvre. The more speed you generate, the greater the amount of energy you can put into the manoeuvre.

Bottom turn

A good bottom turn converts the momentum gained from taking off into speed necessary to continue along the wave or to take you into your next manouver.
Bottom turn on your forehand
- As you drop into the wave transfer your weight smoothly to the inside rail and turn your board into the wave face ahead
- Keep your body position low by bending your knees
- Once you have gained some drive, you can use the momentum to connect into a top turn, or direct your board to simply continue trimming along the wave face
